Dog Grooming

- As of 20/04/2023, Woofs and Washes will be operating from West Well Farm, Unit 12, Tingewick, MK184BD. We will be operating in the premises of The Mutt Hut but we are a TOTALLY SEPERATE BUSINESS. Any issues you have with our services must be directed to either Natalie, Sophie or Nic.
- As of 20/04/2023 Woofs and Washes operates between Natalie, Sophie and Nicola. We will all now be managing our own bookings, payments etc. this will mean if you use more than one of us for your bookings, you will need to be registered with each of us. Any complaints should also where possible go straight to your groomer.
- Drop off/pick up times can only be a maximum of 10 minutes before/after appointments. Charges will be applied outside of this of 5.00 per 15 minutes and you must notify us if delayed.
- We now operate an automated payment in advance system, this is labelled as a 'deposit' on the booking system and is something we cannot change the name to. You will receive a deposit request 2 hours after your latest appointment, and this will need to be paid by 7 days before your appointment. Failure to do so will result in your appointment being cancelled. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, you must provide at least 48 hours notice to allow time for the appointment to be filled. If you provide less than 48 hours notice, it is up to our discretion if you receive a refund. Frequent cancellations may result in the inability to book future appointments. If you fail to attend your appointment, you will not be refunded.
- Woofs and Washes have salon dog(s) that roam free. If your dog is not good with other dogs, you must make us aware so that we can crate them.
- If you dog is in season you must notify us prior to the appointment. As salon dog Bilbo is an entire male it is extremely important that he does not mix with in season bitches, if we are not made aware and this happens, Woofs and Washes cannot be liable. If you fail to notify prior to the groom, we reserve the right to refuse the groom and the appointment fee will still be charged as the slot will not be able to be filled. If you notify in advance, we may be able to make alternative arrangements to accomodate.
- It is strictly against company policy to groom a pregnant dog. All grooming must be booked and completed prior to mating. Grooming a pregnant dog can cause extra stress and risk the pups.
- You must make us aware of any medical problems (seizures, arthritis, collapsing trachea, etc.) your pet has and ensure you notify us with any updates as soon as they occur.
- Dog grooming can expose pre-existing conditions, we cannot diagnose any conditions, but may advise you to seek veterinary attention.
- You must be honest about any history of biting or behavioural issues your pet has, and notify the company with any updates as soon as they occur. Providing this information is for the safety of the groomer and your dog.
- You must not bring a dog in with parasites and you must make us aware before the appointment if you need to cancel for this reason. If parasites are found during the groom, there will be an extra fee added to your bill, as the company will have to cancel their appointments for the rest of the day to thoroughly disinfect the premises before re-opening. Although the flea bath provided in this occurrence will kill the fleas on your pet, they may still be present in your home or pet area.
- As of 2023 we now operate a price policy based on time, our price list for this can be found on our website. You will need to make us aware if you can only afford up to a certain time at booking so that we do not go over this for you. Your pre payment will be based on previous appointment history or if new on breed average. If your dog takes longer then you will be charged, if your dog takes less time then we will alter the price and time we book out on your following appointments. Dematting will be charged on top of this.
- All dogs must be current on vaccinations before grooming. If you choose to have your dog groomed whilst unvaccinated, this can cause risk to both the dog and owner(s). Woofs and Washes cannot be held liable for any illness contracted by the dog or yourself as a result of them not being vaccinated.
- We reserve the right to refuse service to customers whose pets may pose a threat to our staff or dogs in our care. This includes aggression problems, health problems, and parasite problems.
- Although accidents are very rare, there is always a risk when dealing with pets as they move and can be unpredictable. We will inform you of any incident that occurs or any condition that we notice. Your pet's safety and comfort is our priority. In the event of an incident, the correct procedure is to visit the vets if necessary and get a vet report, we will then pass this to our insurance and the insurance company process this. We are unable to make any direct payments to cover vet bills without involving the insurance.
- We will always advise you of the recommended grooming technique for your dog and cannot be held responsible if you opt for a different technique which you later regret.
- If your dog weighs above 20kg, we may need my assistance in lifting them. In this occurence you will need to be available to assist with this and cannot hold woofs and washes responsible for any issues, health or otherwise that may occur from this. If you are unable to do so, you must notify the company prior to the booking to ensure we can find an assistant for the appointment.
- If any issues that will affect the price occur during the groom (i.e parasites or matting etc.) we will make attempts to notify you as soon as they occur.
By continuing to book your appointment, you indicate that you understand and agree to our terms of service. You further authorise woofs and washes to transport your pet to a veterinarian in the event of an emergency, and agree that any resulting veterinary bills will be your sole responsibility until the insurance company has received a vet report and processed the claim. You grant us permission to seek veterinary attention. You also confirm that the information provided in this form is true to your knowledge and agree to update us on any changes when they occur.

Dematting Policy
- We do not enjoy dematting, but when a dog in matted it is a necessity as trying to brush out matts will be unfair to your dog. We will advise if we need to clip your dog off. As part of the animal welfare act we must do this to ensure your dog is free from the discomfort and pain that matts cause.
- You must make us aware prior to the appointment if your dog is matted. This is because dematting takes extra time, not notifying us can not only delay our entire day of appointments but can also make the dematting process more stressful as we will be rushed.
- Dematting is an extra service and therefore it does require an additional charge. This can be between £5-£15 depending on severity and this is to cover the damage it causes to equipment plus the extra time it takes.
- Where matting occurs on dogs that shouldn't be clipped (e.g double coated dogs) we will try our best to avoid clipping however if the matts are too severe we will unfortunately have to clip them out for the safety and comfort of your dog. If these matts are only in a small area (e.g behind the ear) we will use the clippers to safely remove in that isolated area and will continue the rest of the groom as normal to ensure we restrict the damage done to the coat.
- We always do our best to avoid accidents with dogs, however when a dog is dematted, the risk is heightened. This is because the matts are so close to the skin that often, the clippers can struggle to differentiate between where the matts end and the skin begins, so they are more likely to snag on skin and graze it. In these incidents, our insurance will not cover this and we will not be made liable, as the risk has been caused by lack of brushing and is therefor seen as the liability of the owner. We will always do our best to notify you of these injuries although sometimes these can become more apparent when the skin settles so we may not be aware at the time.
- Matts and lack of brushing can also cause skin irritations, often these will be hidden by the matts and will only become apparent once they are removed. Removing matts will also allow the blood to flow properly once again and in certain areas like the ears, things like haematomas can form where the blood rushes to the surface, shortly after the skin is allowed to breathe again.
- Dematting is not a comfortable experience for your dog, as the above suggests. Therefore it can be expected that your dog may not be as happy after the appointment. We do our best to keep your dog as comfortable as possible during dematting, and it can often be an emotional experience for us too as we don't enjoy seeing dogs suffer, however please remember this service is to prevent your dog from suffering further and to ensure they don't go through this again it is important you maintain a regular grooming routine at home.
- Although your dog may not look good after the groom, please remember that this is due to us needing to perform a groom for your dogs welfare and we therefore cannot always make this look good too! Please refrain from making comments to others after that may affect our business reputation such as "they butchered my dog" or "they scalped them" and please remember that the responsibility for your dog needing dematting in the first place was from your lack of brushing and is in no way the company's fault. Any negative comments will be considered slander as this can effect our reputation and dematting is something we are not liable for. In an ideal world, we would never shave off a dog just for the sake of it - we like them to look good when they leave, but we can only work with what we are given!
We only have your dog for a couple of hours. You have them the rest of the time. Make sure you visit us regularly to suit your desired coat length. If you like your pet longer, come in every 4-6 weeks. If you struggle to brush, go for a shorter length so that you won't need to do as much with it yourself. If you are ensure, ask us, we are always happy to advise. Please listen to our advice after the dematting appointment so that we can work together to ensure it doesn't happen again. Remember it's also important for your dog to return soon after a dematting appointment, even if it's just for a wash as it's vital they return for a more positive experience to regain trust and comfort after the uncomfortable experience of dematting

Teeth Cleaning
This method of dental cleaning is highly effective in removing mild tartar, improving gums, breath odour and overall oral health. Woofs and Washes cannot guarantee the results, effectiveness or suitability for individual pets due to varying external factors. If dogs become distressed or we discover anything likely to cause discomfort to your pet, we will discontinue immediately and inform you. The best approach to solve this will then be discussed with you.
Each pet will have its own tooth brush head that will not be used on another dog. This is purchased at the initial treatment and will be replaced after 25 treatments or sooner if required. Some pets may chew the brush head, if this is excessive it may need replacing sooner to maintain effectiveness. Brush heads will require replacing after 1 year regardless of number of times they have been used.
If we feel any teeth are loose or at risk of becoming loose when the tartar comes off we may request you get your pets’ teeth checked at your veterinarian before treatment. It is possible that the tartar build up will be too great and then a veterinary dental may be necessary initially and then follow up ultrasonic maintenance visits with us.
Woofs and Washes cannot be held responsible for any problems occurring from poor dentition before, during or after any ultrasonic treatments.
Woofs and Washes’ ultrasonic treatment is not a veterinary procedure and Woofs and Washes cannot diagnose any problems with your dog’s mouth. Please have any advisories checked by your veterinarian.
Woofs and Washes offers 2 types of treatment plans, please ask for more details to determine the cost of each.
I, the undersigned, understand that the effectiveness of the ultrasound teeth cleaning is based on frequency and that optimum oral health might only be achieved by keeping to the frequency recommended by Woofs and Washes.
By signing these Terms and Conditions I acknowledge reading them, understanding them and I agree to them for any and all.
